Title: Jehu Destroyed Ahab’s House and Received Blessings from the Lord.
Last Sunday’s session was rather a dynamic study time where we observed the actions within the mission of Jehu according to the will of God. Dr. d’Almeida highlighted the fact that God always anoints and prepares people He sends to accomplish a given mission. Right at the beginning of the session he said: “When God wants to send someone to a special mission, He always prepares, equips and anoints the person?” Based on that statement he prayed that each one of us will receive the anointing we need to do what God has called us for. He also urged us not to forget that God has a unique purpose for our lives. Well as we moved into the scriptures, the preacher invited us to observe the sovereignty of God and the faithfulness of Jehu as he entered the mission God had anointed him for. Dr. d’Almeida’s message was focused on three main scriptures: 1King 21: 21-29, where God declared the destruction of Ahab’s house; 2king 9: 7- 37, where Jehu was anointed and had started his work and 2 King 10: 1- 26, where Jehu accomplished his mission just as God had instructed him. As we were going back and forth through the scriptures, Dr. d’Almeida pointed out how Jehu was prepared by the Lord to carry out the destruction of Ahab’s house. One thing he really urged us to watch, is the Legacy we are leaving for our children. Here we see how Ahab’s wickedness had brought destruction upon his entire house. In the meantime Jehu had received blessings from the Lord. 2 King 10: 30 says “The Lord said to Jehu, ?Because you have done well in accomplishing what is right in my eyes and have done to the house of Ahab all I had in mind to do, your descendants will sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation?” It is important to mention here that Dr. d’Almeida had used each of the characters and their behaviors to educate us about how we can fully obey God when He calls us to a mission. He also prayed over us at the end of his message that we will choose to obey God no matter what comes our way.
My dear brothers and sisters, let’s all apply Dr. d’Almeida’s teaching to our daily life. Here we have a choice to make. Are we going to live like Ahab who left curse for household or like Jehu who left blessings for his generation? Let us not forget the last verse we all repeated multiple times: It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10:31
